Acronis True Image 2015 User Manual
I successfully made a backup image .tib file. If my computer crashes, how do I use it to restore my computer. I believe I need some sort of bootable disk but I can't figure out how to do it. Please list simple steps for a novice.

You would boot from the ATI bootable Rescue Media and use the Restore option. Create the ATI bootable Rescue Media now, and ensure that it works on your hardware.
Make sure you're creating full disk mode backups. More info in the guides below.

Thanks Tuttle. I created a bootable Rescue Media CD as you suggested. I chose the 'full' version. The resulting disk booted and showed a single folder: 'recovery manager'. Inside, I clicked on Bootmenu.exe. There was a momentary flash of a small empty black screen that disappeared immediately. Nothing else happened. What now? I appreciate your help.
I'm afraid Grover's Guides are beyond my understanding. The windows shown are not anything like Acronis True Image 11 Home. The user manual does not tell me what to do with the disk I made.

If you are truly referring to the old version 11 and not verson 2011,

That's not how the bootable Rescue Media works. You would not navigate into a folder in Windows and launch that executable. The disk (or USB flash drive) must be burned as a bootable device. Then you would boot your PC from that CD or USB flash drive, whereupon your PC would enter the Linux-based Rescue Media environment, not Windows.
Tuttle, thank you so much for your patience and your clear directions!! I did as you suggested and entered the 'Media Environment'. I validated my image then backed out and loaded Windows. I am very relieved to be able to restore my computer if I need to. I am about to install Windows 7 as Windows XP will no longer receive care and feeding from Microsoft. It's a daunting task but I feel more secure now if something goes wrong.
