Instant Pot User Manual Duo Plus

The DUO Plus (9 in 1) appear as an upgraded version of the DUO model (7 in 1), featuring almost all the same functions as the 7 in 1 model plus 2 new. We’re obsessed with these recipes you can make in your Instant Pot. But that assumes you know what an “Instant Pot” is and know how to use one. So we’ve created this little Instant Pot manual to get you started. Instant Pot is a brand name for a popular brand of electric pressure cooker, an.

  1. Jun 06, 2018  Ever get confused by those 'Less' 'Normal' and 'More' settings when you Pressure Cook on your Instant Pot Duo Plus? This short video will nip that in the bud! Buy the Duo Plus Here!: https://amzn.
  2. A lot more user-friendly than the old DUO60 Model! The Instant Pot Company has really been listening to users’ requests! They have revamped the Instant Pot DUO Plus 60’s touch pad control panel with end users in mind. We no longer need to press the “Cancel” Button to.

The Instant Pot Duo is a 7-in-1 multi-use pressure cooker, so it can also make yogurt, cook rice, stew, steam, and more. It's the most popular version of the Instant Pot because it's reasonably priced, comes in three size options, and you'll often find it on sale somewhere.

Pros

  • Reasonably priced
  • Includes seven functions
  • Comes in three sizes
  • Easy-to-use buttons
  • Features stainless steel pot
  • Goes on sale often

Cons

  • Manual pressure valve release
  • Can't sterilize or control temperature

The Instant Pot Ultra does everything the Duo does, except with these added functions: Sterilize, Cake Maker, Egg Cooker, and Ultra. The display looks a lot nicer and the auto-closing pressure valve means one less step between you and delicious meals. However, the knob is a tad sensitive and hard to use compared with regular buttons.

Pros

  • Features 10 functions
  • Larger and fancier display
  • Auto-closing pressure valve and safer pressure release button
  • The 'Ultra' program allows users to manually control the temperature for precise cooking, similar to Sous Vide.

Cons

  • Uses a knob instead of buttons, and it's less intuitive.
  • More expensive

For most people, the Duo is enough to get the job done. After all, there's a reason why it's the most popular Instant Pot model. However, the Ultra does have some very nice functions that make cooking even more convenient. It's just $50 more.

It boils down to features and price

Honestly, the Duo is the most popular model, and for good reason: it gets the job done and the price is reasonable, so it'll be good for most people. However, if you're the type of person who wants the fancy high-tech stuff and cost does not matter, then the Ultra is nice to have for the extra features.

While the Duo is missing several functions, after using my Duo for over a year, I've come to realize that I really just need the Pressure/Manual and Sauté functions, with the occasional Steam for vegetables. Plus, the buttons are easier to use, since the Ultra knob is a tad finicky and sensitive, so you may waste some time just getting the knob on the right setting.

After using my Duo for over a year, I've come to realize that I don't need any of the Ultra's extra functions.

However, the Ultra is definitely nice with the auto-closing pressure valve. This means that you just lock the lid and the Ultra takes care of the sealing. With the Duo, you'll need to manually check to make sure that the pressure valve is in the 'Sealing' position, otherwise, the pressure won't be able to build up. If you go with just the Duo, checking the valve is just something you need to make sure you do and it's only a small, extra step.

For those who like to see a visual representation on the display of how their food is coming along, the Ultra's progress indicator is a nice touch. You'll see what stage of the cooking process the food is in and even see the temperature rising.

The Ultra setting allows you to maintain water at a specific temperature, which you need for Sous Vide cooking. However, if you already have your own Sous Vide Circulator Stick, then you don't need the Ultra's pseudo-sous vide controls.

Instant Pot Duo Plus Series User Manual

Both the Instant Pot Duo and Ultra are great products, but if you are solely wanting to pressure cook (and that's the most the majority of customers will probably want to do), then the Duo is enough to get the job done for a fair price. However, if you want more high-tech bells and whistles, and the cost isn't an issue, then go for the Ultra.

Our Pick

Instant Pot Duo

The most popular Instant Pot model

The Instant Pot Duo is a great multi-use pressure cooker that will get the job done. It has seven built-in programs, but you'll end up using Sauté and Pressure/Manual the most, leaving the rest alone for the most part. It comes in three sizes for all of your cooking needs and is on sale often.

High-tech

Instant Pot Ultra

The pressure cooker with a lot of fancy bells and whistles

The Ultra does everything the Duo does, and a lot more, including Sterilizing and Sous Vide. It also auto-closes the pressure valve, so that's one less thing to worry about. However, the knob is a bit finicky and a lot of the extra features are unnecessary if you're solely looking for a way to pressure cook your food. Plus, this model is a bit on the pricier side, but it does go on sale occasionally.

The DUO Plus (9 in 1) appear as an upgraded version of the DUO model (7 in 1), featuring almost all the same functions as the 7 in 1 model plus 2 new functions the Cage/Egg function plus the Sterilize mode. They also have in mind a lot of the concerns and requirements of users from older models trying to get the most full-featured pressure cooker on the market.

Instant Pot User Manual Pdf

The three new programmed buttons as we mentioned before are the cake, egg, and sterilization functions.

The Sterilization is more of a function rather than a cooking mode. The main use is to sterilize your utensils or possibly pasteurize milk.

With the Sterilize mode, the company states that you can use for certain types of canning as well but have in mind that all low acid pressure canning should be only done in larger stovetop pots for safety reasons.

Another big difference is the display panel. The control panel that comes in the 9 in 1 model is larger and is a little bit easier to use. There are of course new buttons for the preset cooking functions and sterilization mode and the screen itself is easier to read and comes with a few new icons to make it easier to see extra information about the current cooking mode or cycle. It will look a lot like the IP-Smart screen.

Other features of the DUO Plus which are different from the regular DUO models is that they now give you the opportunity to change the cooking mid-cycle. For instance, you can go from high to low-pressure mid-cycle or even switch cooking modes altogether at any point in the cooking process.

In addition to this model, Instant Pot releases the Ultra pressure cooker, that includes even more benefits like being able to cook in sous-vide mode or fine-tune the cooking time, pressure, and temperature and even adjust for altitude.

Great additions to get the most complete multi-function cooker. To learn more check out review of the Instant Pot Ultra here.

Is the Instant Pot IP-DUO Plus Better or Worth it?

Of course, all of the features that make the bestseller DUO model worth buying are still there. You still get the trusted name brand and all the cooking modes that make Instant Pot so special.

Yogurt making and multiple PSI settings are still the main upgrades from the LUX version to the DUO model but a cool addition that comes with the DUO Plus model is the 2 new functions that give you the ability to cook cake, egg and sterilize your utensils, plus the improvement of the control panel is going to be a game-changer for lots of people who just don’t understand the screen on older models.

The bigger screen, for instance, makes it much easier to read and the buttons make a little bit more sense for either choosing pre-programmed functions or for manually setting the PSI and cooking duration.

For some people and more first time users, the manual controls can be a little tricky to understand. With the 9 in 1 model, the manual control will be more intuitive.
